March 20, 2019
My Beloved PATAS Members,
Hope everyone is safe and is in good health.
I am writing this email to personally check on each one of the atheists, agnostics, and secularists.
How are you?
I miss you.
I miss all my friends here as much as how I miss my family and my beloved partner.
Just like all of us, we are all locked down – as for me, I am locked here at my work office.
COVID 19 shocked us in a way that no one had ever imagined. No one knows the answer, I never saw anything like this. And I, speaking personally, is being traumatized by this pandemic. All my vision for our PATAS group had turned gray as all meetups and projects had been postponed. Last February, I announced the postponement of the PATAS 9th year anniversary. This March, my heart broke as the LOGOS Project for Marikina and LUMAD was also postponed. Some detested and messaged me to ask why I postponed the events. I know that there were some people who got dismayed and even unfriended me because of my decision as I have initiated this postponement way before the government did a lockdown. To those people – I understand you; you are my brothers and I love you. We are in the darkest hour of our lives and everything is understandable. Yet I believe that something will drastically change after this pandemic.
Also, I am asking every one of you to avoid posting unverified reports or news. Always verify your sources. Let us rather help the community by providing accurate information.
Here are some tips on how to evaluate news:
1. Question the publisher’s credibility.
2. Pay attention to quality, date, and time.
3. Check the sources and citations.
4. Ask a legitimate or licensed medical practitioner.
To those who have Viber, I highly encourage each one of you to join this Viber group for updates, tips, and announcements from DOH regarding COVID-19:
I would like to thank each and every one of you for your contributions here in the group. This is not an ordinary group.
Also, I am very proud of our PATAS Officers. They have been very initiative even in this time of pandemic.
I would like to announce one of their initiatives.
PATAS Project Manager, Mx. Regie Pasion will be spear heading a donation operation called: “OPLAN: Sagip TODA”.
This project includes buying and handing out food supplies to our tricycle drivers; – in the most strategic way to avoid being contracted.
These are the following food and supplies that we will donate:
1. 1 Kilo of rice
3. Rubbing alcohol
4. Canned goods
I know that there are a lot of people who are dying, as I write this letter.
We would like to help them as much as possible.
We are here to save lives as much as we are saving our lives.
We are human and it is our job to preserve each other’s life.
Our only vision now is to save life and provide help as much as possible.
But due to our physical restrictions, You and I can only help through online financing.
Let us leave all the work volunteer to our project managers.
Saying so, I am humbly knocking on your hearts to help us, as we fund poor people to have some food on their plate while they are locked down and cannot work.
Funds will be transparent as this will be online. We will show you the receipt and the goods once purchased.
However, PATAS bank account is not yet available due to the technical and current situation. We promise to provide you the PATAS Bank account after this pandemic. In the meantime, the PATAS Board of Trustees approves my personal bank account while we wait for the PATAS bank to open.
